Do you have students who love to give random answers when they are asked to give a question? What’s 4 x 2? 5! Why? Who knows, it sounded nice. In an effort to get my students to think about their answers, we have adopted the slogan – If you don’t know why, you don’t know the answer. I made this poster to go with it and we have it hung prominently in our room. Whenever silly answers come out, students remind each other about our slogan.
