It is so important to keep an ongoing record of how your students are progressing in reading. My district advocates doing guided reading and as part of that, we take an ongoing running record on one child in each group we meet with every day. So, if we meet with four groups, we'd have 4 records from that day and so on. This allows me to monitor how my students are growing and changing as readers and helps me plan the areas I need to teach and reinforce in my lessons.
