Teaching Personification with the Picture Book Tough Cookie
One of my favorite literary devices to teach is personification. Students enjoy pretending that inanimate objects have human characteristics. Tough Cookie is a private eye that lives at the bottom of a cookie jar. This book by David Wisniewski is a great example of personification.
