Graphic Organizer for Cause and Effect

 While reading an informational article, students sometimes need to think backwards from an event to its causes.  They can record these cause and effect relationships on the graphic organizer shown above.  Students write events that occurred on the left and what factors caused those events to happen on the right.  The arrows show them the direction of the action.
