Have you heard of Pokey Pinning? If not, I will quickly tell you that it involves children using their hand strength to review and/or learn new concepts. They poke a push pin into a design on a paper (preferably a letter, number, or other “item” you are working on in your classroom). It is a very calming activity that all children love to work on. I use them in my word work centers and have recently created sets to use during math center time as well. If you go to my blog, you will find a freebie that I created for you to easily introduce Pokey Pinning to your students for the first time.
