Even my “native English speakers” all speak, read and write in another language. With a class full of students who speak, read and write in at least one language other than English, teaching the rules of English is extremely important. One thing we work on is verb conjugations. Verb conjugations are so much easier in English, that we often don’t bother to teach kids how to do this. However for English Language Learners, especially those coming from languages like Spanish and French, verb conjugations help them relate English to their home languages. For more information on teaching grammar to English Language Learners, and to download this free sheet that I use when conjugating verbs with my students, stop by my blog – Raki’s Rad Resources.
