I’m so excited to be celebrating 5 million page views here at CF! I’ve been a contributor since the very beginning and I hope to be here for a very long time to come.
I blog regularly over at Sunny Days in Second Grade. I started my blog in April 2011 when I was a bit of a crossroads in my career. I’d been a classroom teacher for 18 years at that point and I wasn’t quite sure if I was going to make 20. So many crazy changes were really starting to take a toll on me. I knew I had to find some way to either reignite my passon for our profession or find another profession.
Around that time I found the fabulous world of teacher blogging which was really just starting to take off. Since I had always loved to write and I knew deep down I still loved teaching, I decided to start a blog of my own. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Even though I’m still troubled by some of the changes in education, I now find that I’m focusing more on my kids, my classroom and my love of teaching and less on the dictates, mandates and general negativity.
My hope is that through my blog, I’m helping others who might also be struggling with the changes we’re facing as educators, so stop by anytime you feel like you need a little lift!
One of the best things about starting my blog has been connecting with other bloggers in some online networking groups. One of the most impressive bloggers I’ve met is Jenaya Shaw over at Lesson Plan Diva. Here’s just one of the great freebies she’s shared. I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I do.
