When your new students walk into the classroom this fall, you’ll immediately begin assessing their proficiency in reading, writing, and computational math skills. Whether it’s through formal assessments or just informal observation, you quickly get to know where they are in each subject.
But do you have a way of determining their proficiency as math problem solvers? This free Problem Solving Assessment packet will help you determine where your students are in terms of their ability to solve problems as well as their ability to represent their solutions in picture or written form.
You’ll find four levels of pretests and posttests for a total of eight assessments. Directions, answer keys, and record-keeping forms are included. I think you’ll find this tool to be useful when administered sometime during the first few weeks of school. You can download it from the Seasonal Page on Teaching Resources during July and August and from my TeachersPayTeachers store any time of the year. I hope you find it to be helpful!
