Mitten & Snowman Newsprint Craftivity

Students choose either a snowman or mitten pattern (cut from an old file folder) and trace it onto a wordy section of the newspaper.  They circle all of the Mm’s OR S’s that they can find, counting as they go.

Before hand, students fill out their prediction sheet, and complete it when they are done with the newsprint craftivity.

Students add that finishing touch by drawing on facial features to the snowman, or coloring the mitten their favorite color.

These look awesome glued to a sheet of black construction paper and then sprinkled on a bulletin board with a blue background that’s bordered by snowflakes.

Have students share their results and discuss why they think that more S’s than Mm’s were found.   Winter Newsprint Craftivity
