This is my all-time favorite fall craft. The melted crayon trees are quick, easy and fun to make, and the results are as varied as real trees and just as spectacular.
I’ve included 7 bare branch tree templates for you to choose from.
As a great fine motor skill to help strengthen little finger muscles, have your students peel old fall-colored crayons, then sharpen piles of colored shavings with a crayon sharpener.
They pinch a bit and sprinkle on the top of their tree. You place a sheet of wax paper on top, then press with a warm iron. Gently peel back and enjoy the oooh’s and ahhh’s from your kiddos.
Mount them on a variety of fall-colored construction paper for a lovely bulletin board. For that finishing touch, use a leaf border or artificial leaves scattered here and then.
