For fun fine motor skill practice, students peel red, yellow and green broken crayons and then “shave”
them with a crayon sharpener to make a small pile. Children pinch a bit
and sprinkle the shavings on the apple that they cut out, being careful
not to get any on the area where the poem is.
Teacher puts a piece of
wax paper on the top and then presses down for a few seconds, with an
iron on its lowest setting.
Gently peel back to reveal the
awesome effects. Students add a construction paper leaf and stem, and
write their name on the leaf.
Completed projects make an awesome
bulletin board, or can be hung back-to-back from the ceiling, by
punching a hole in the stem and tying on a piece of yarn.
