Do you read Emberley’s, Books Go Away Big Green Monster and Glad Monster Sad Monster? They are 2 of my favorite monster-themed books.
I designed a whopping 40-page packet around them. Perfect for tossing in a few monsters to help cover standards during Halloween week.
My kiddos personal favorite was the Go Away Big Green Monster patterns. I pass them out and we assemble the monster as I read the story. Make just one for you, or have your students each make their own.
I’ve included a quick & easy bookmark (his nose slips over the page and saves your place) as well as some worksheets too.
To help review shapes, I gave each child their own long green envelope to transform into Frankenstein’s monster. You can buy 24 in a pack at an office supply store for around $2. I slit the tops, so they can feed their monster shapes. It’s a quick, easy & interesting way to whole group assess.
My large file folder monster is another simple & fun way to reinforce shapes, as well as letters and numbers. He munches and crunches these things for lunch. 🙂
Finally, for writing practice, we made a “My Monster Feels” class book, after we read Glad Monster Sad Monster. My kiddos voted on a silly and happy monster face for our cover.
All these activities can be found in the Monster Activity packet. Click on the link to pop on over to my blog to grab this fun FREEBIE.
