Here’s a quick, easy & fun game perfect for a December math activity, or your Christmas party day.
The “Trim the Tree” game helps reinforce coins (penny, nickel, dime & quarter).
Each student gets a set of coins to color and cut out, then they pick a partner and take turns rolling the dice four times.
Their 1st roll equals how many penny ornaments they will glue to their tree, the 2nd roll is for nickels and so on. Older students can total up the value of their coins and write that amount on the tree trunk or star.
To practice more math, as well as review color words,
worksheets are provided. There are several options for different
levels of study.
I’ve also included completed samples to help clarify
things.
The coin anchor charts, are a great way to introduce the coins, review and refer to.
