Are you looking for a little something to plug into President’s Day, or something to do while studying Abraham Lincoln?
Abe’s log cabin is a quick, easy and fun “craftivity” to help your students review skip counting by 10s or 5s. (The logs are numbered.)
Sticking a penny inside the door, so that Lincoln can greet you when you flip it open, is a nice finishing touch. Before we glued our penny down, we did all sorts of activities with them. We made pencil rubs, and used tally marks to document our “heads or tails” flips that we did in one minute, then we graphed the results.
You can make the log cabins for President’s Day, or when you’re studying coins. It also makes an interesting center for 100 Day, as children skip count to 100 by 5s & 10s.
