The hexagon is often a “toughie” shape for students to learn, at least it is with my kiddos.
A fun way to give them more practice with hexagons, is with pattern blocks.
Have them count them, stack them, pattern with them etc.
With that in mind, I designed this hexagon pattern block game .
As they are playing with the pattern blocks, challenge them to use the various pieces to see how many ways they can make the hexagon shape.
I’ve included full-color, as well as a black and white template (filled and blank) for them to place pattern pieces on. Turn it into a game; set a timer and see who can make the most hexagons before it rings.
