Hi everyone!
I teach first grade and start out each year reading novels to my students. I usually read to them at the end of each day. I have them lay down on our meeting area carpet. I want them to get comfortable. My primary purpose for reading the novels to my students is for them to love reading and hopefully become lifelong readers.
One of their favorite novels that I read is My Father’s Dragon by Ruth Stiles Gannett. The book is about a boy who tells a tale of his father’s adventures (as a boy) as he tries to save a flying dragon from dangerous wild animals. My students can’t wait for me to read more from the story each day.
I created a set of printables to go with the book.
