Most of the kids I work with also have fine motor or gross motor problem (in addition to their communication problems). And I have discovered that the sensory labs or motor rooms are pretty similar from school to school.
I’ve also discovered that not all of “my” kids have either an activity page in their aac system or sufficient vocabulary to discuss the activities in this area.
So, I’ve created an activity-based communication board to use in the motor room with your students. It contains a variety of core words that are appropriate for this environment, as well as fringe words that are specific to this context.
So, bounce, run, jump, and crawl your way to having fun and being tired, but……..keep on talking!
