We still teach cursive at my school. I think it has several benefits for students even though many of my students grumble and complain when I make them turn in work in cursive. I think it builds better spelling habits because students’ hands are memorizing common letter combinations and patterns. I also think it helps students recall information more easily when they have written it with their own hand.
When students arrive in my classroom, they have been taught all of the letters and connections but still need practice to be proficient. I use practice pages like these BACK TO SCHOOL CURSIVE PAGES to help them improve their cursive.
I hope I’m not the only one still teaching cursive handwriting!
