I had already been doing this activity for several years, when our district limited the amount of food events we could do with our students. I wasn’t fond of the frosting and candy and their effect on my students.
Most recently, I have been teaching my students the lesson and then take them to our younger buddy class to help them assemble the project. If you have a buddy class, this is a great activity.
Students consider what a gingerbread house might say. They write a short conversation and then create the paper gingerbread house to illustrate.
Conversation with a Gingerbread House: Writing Dialogue is available from Artistry of Education @ Teachers Pay Teachers. There are step-by-step directions for making the house included in the packet.
