Have you ever wondered how to show off all of the learning taking place in your classroom? Do you take photos of your class engaged in learning, or on field trips? Would you like a way to show your class learning with visitors in your room? Do you ever wonder what you should actually do with all of the photos you take? I used to have so many adorable photos of my students, and never had a way to put them on display. Then I came up with a great solution to show my class learning!
For years I would end each school year with tons of adorable photos of students making presentations (for a great free presentation idea, click here), and engaged in great learning activities. Sometimes I would share them with families, but the majority of the time the photos were not on display in my classroom. I simply didn’t have a good way to display them. I often wished that my administrators, parents, and other visitors to our room would be able to see other subjects being taught. So often administrators can only observe during certain times of the day. For example, my administrators rarely get to see my students learning science because it is taught during a time when they are not free.
How do you show photos of your class learning?
So I had an idea. What if I could incorporate photos of my class learning into our monthly calendar heading? I came up with these free monthly calendar headings. They are so easy to use. Simply take photos of your students learning on your phone. Then save the images to your computer (I usually upload them directly from my phone to my iCloud or even my free Dropbox account for easy transfer). Whichever method you use, once the images are saved to your computer open the free monthly calendar headings. Then it’s as simple as pointing and clicking to insert the photo into the calendar headings.
Does it help engage students?
Absolutely! Students love seeing pictures of themselves learning. Students are constantly looking for more ways to be featured in pictures, which keeps them more engaged. The reality is there are only 10 months of the school year. I make sure that I use group photos, and that each student in my room is featured on one of the months of the school year. Once you’ve accomplished this your fine. Students are always happy to see the photo for each month.
I hope that you find great ways to use these free monthly calendar headings with your class. I know my students enjoy them each year! Enjoy, and happy photo taking!
