6 Life Skills I Forgot To Teach
I’ve been a special educator for many years. Generally, I feel pretty good about my ability to teach children the necessary life skills for a successful future. However, recently I it came to my attention that there were several life skills that I didn’t teach my son, at least not as early on as I should have!
Below are 6 important life skills for you to teach:
1. Putting on/fastening a belt
2. Undoing a tight knot
3. Cutting food with a knife
4. Using a key
5. Figuring out how much change should come back to you after a purchase
6. Knowing your own and others phone numbers
These are, of course, important life skills for all children to have. Head on over to my blog post HERE to learn some great tips on how to teach these skills.
Over the past few years I have gone back and taught all of these skills to my kids.
While all of these skills are important, perhaps the most important skill is knowing your phone number, as well as any other important phone numbers.
Do you have a child or student who could benefit from learning the more basic skill of memorizing their phone number and “dialing” that number on a cell phone? These fun and handy worksheets can help!
