We are approaching the end of the school year and it’s time to start thinking about what types of certificates and rewards you might like to give to your students. One of my favorites is this Neatness Reward.
Students often need reminders about your expectations during the last few weeks of school. They also need reminders about keeping the classroom tidy. You can address both of these issues with the Neatness Award. Instead of telling your students to clean their desks, surprise them by rewarding those who have clean desks and work spaces. You will be surprised by how quickly the rest of the desks become clean too!
It’s always best, in my opinion, to keep our messages positive. With the Neatness Award, you will accomplish your desire for cleaner desks and workspaces. You will also create pride in your students for taking care of their own belongings and responsibilities.
You don’t have to save the Neatness Award for the end of the year. You can introduce it whenever your class needs some reminders about organizing their belongings. At the end of the year, however, when you deciding what certificates to use to acknowledge responsibility, make sure to include the Neatness Award.
