Hi teaching friends! I was thinking about what I normally do in my classroom for student birthdays.
Traditionally, I have always done a birthday certificate, pencil, and the cha-cha-cha filled birthday song. I know birthday celebrations and treats are becoming more and more obsolete as we don’t have time or are banned from celebrating by school district administration. That, in itself, is sad to me, but I can tell you that even my high school daughter was excited today because her Spanish teacher gave her a sticker and had the class sing Happy Birthday (in Spanish, of course) to her.
The smallest things really can mean a lot – even to a teenage girl in high school!
I noticed that I had a fun customizable birthdays poster to share with everyone and it seemed like a good time to do so! If you click on the image below, you can grab this freebie and easily be able to remember when your student birthdays are too.
Need more great ideas for what to give students or do that will make their special day extra sparkly?
Check out my Student Birthday Ideas Pinterest Board, which I updated today with lots of great new ideas, several that I found from Denise over at SunnyDays in Second Grade! Hopefully one of the pins will give you some new student birthday celebration inspiration. 🙂
How do you make your students feel extra special on their birthday? We would love to hear even more ideas below! Thanks for sharing!
