Goal setting for the New Year is a useful practice for young and old. It helps us to focus on what is important and where we want to go in the near future and beyond.
I encourage my students to set goals for school and home as well as a personal goal. Sometimes these can be linked to accomplishments of the previous years. Reflecting on the previous year is a good way to think of how to improve.
Here is a graphic organizer that will help with goal setting for the New Year by reflecting and moving on. It is 3 stars and a wish. The 3 stars are things that have gone well and are accomplishments to be proud of. The wish is something to work towards in the future.
This format can be used for school, home, and personal accomplishments. It gives a starting off point and it also allows for reflecting on some positive moments. There are 2 different themes available so that it can be used at the beginning of a New Year, or at the beginning of a new school year.

Have a wonderful New Year! I hope your students enjoy reflecting and goal setting as they move into another season of learning.
