ME-Moji Star Student of the Week Poster

3-5· All Freebies· PK-2

Celebrating your students is something teachers love to do. It’s kind of what makes us get up for work each day.

But every teacher has different ways to focus that spotlight on their students throughout the year.

I have always loved having a “Star Student” each week so that I learn a little more about each of my children – and the rest of the class learns more about them too. It really helps with classbuilding and morale.

What are Some Ways to Feature Students?

Obviously this is not a full list, but just a few suggestions. Please leave your ideas in the comments below too. #sharingiscaring

  • Line leader for the week
  • Star Student Poster
  • Certificate, rubber bracelet, and/or pencil
  • Gets to sit at a teacher’s desk all week
  • Classroom Star Student Story
  • Office runner for the week
  • Star Student crown
  • Other students write adjectives to describe the featured student on a poster board and he or she gets to take it home
  • Leads the Pledge of Allegiance, morning math, or something else that week
  • Allowed to help out in another classroom

As you can see, there are so many ways to spotlight your students. Some are tangible and others are intangible.

I was trying to think of something out of the box from the typical Star Student Poster to share with you. How is this for fun?

A Me-moji Bulletin Board Set!

And the best part? It’s so easy to set up and not have to come up with new ideas each month for your bulletin board!

Steps to set up:

  1. Decide whether you want to set up your bulletin board on an actual board in your class, on a window, on the side of a shelf, or even on a portable tri-fold science fair presentation board.
  2. Print out the bulletin board letters – feel free to increase or decrease the size in order to get the right fit for your space.
  3. The Friday before you announce the next star student, give the student a print out of the 5 emoji pages and ask her or him to fill out (with a parents help if needed) and bring back on Monday.
  4. Then, on Monday (or Tuesday if the student forgets) you can have the student of the week read his or her pages and favorites and then tack them up on your board.
  5. Done and done!

I love having a Star Student Poster in the classroom so that each child is treated like the star he or she really is during the school year!
