Comparing the Past with the Present

All Freebies

The May Amelia books by Jennifer L. Holm are popular with my colleagues who teach Washington State history to fourth graders.  Set in southwest Washington in about 1900, I use it to teach about settlements just after statehood.

To go along with this book and other historical fiction books, I created a graphic organizer where students compare daily tasks from the past and present and imagine what those tasks will be like in the future.  To download the Past, Present, and Future organizer, please visit this post at Artistry of Education.
