Vocabulary knowledge is a major factor in students’ development of reading comprehension. Here is an activity pack that makes the learning of vocabulary fun.
It is powered by the Word of the Day for Kids channel and The Fully Illustrated Dictionary of English channel on YouTube as well as the Merriam-Webster Thesaurus. All videos are embedded so that they are the only ones students see. There are 180 words plus a bonus word each day for a total of 360 words. The words are all Tier 2 vocabulary. In each video, the word and written definition are shown and spoken. Then segments from popular kid-friendly movies, shows, news reports, or documentaries provide samples of the word’s usage in a clear, complete, vivid context. Synonyms and antonyms are also available.
