How many brain wrinkles do you have?

All Freebies

When I taught first grade, I always started every year talking about how much we would learn together in class and I mention a story about brain wrinkles. A second grade teacher once shared a story that every time we learn something new we get a new wrinkle in our brains so by the end of our school year our brains would be as wrinkly as an elephant’s skin. That always stuck with me. To help students visualize their brain wrinkles, I had them draw on a “brain” how many wrinkles they thought they would get in our year together. I put this sheet in their portfolio that they received back at the end of the year. It’s a great little keepsake.   Since it’s not the beginning of the year, it might be fun to tie in brain wrinkles with Halloween.  Now, did you just get a wrinkle in your brain?  LOL
