The Power of Music

All Freebies

TALL GIRAFFE!!!!!

Music has such power!!! Listen in on my song structured with a ‘call and response’ format which strengthens short term memory. The song continues to unfold in a cumulative process — which then reinforces that short term memory of the text and converts it to long term memory. The other delight for primary teachers and teachers of students  learning English, is that the verses are built with internal AND ending rhymes: a phonemic delight for certain!! You’ll see your fellow teachers learning the sign language to support the text, which has all sorts of fine motor and gross motor implications. Sign language requires both hemispheres of the brain to interact. Yet one more bonus!!!

My adoration of all things Pinterest has led me to create a pin-board collection of all things giraffe related. I have over 200 pins that are giraffe-centric. There are some great resources over there: art projects, letter recognition ideas, snacks, bulletin board possibilities, costumes and props: the whole pin-yards. — Go track it down!!! You’ll be glad you did.

****If you want to learn more about how my song evolved into a traditional its current picture book format and how I earned the title: author/illustrator, please hop over to my RainbowsWithinReach blog for the rest of the story.

I’m happy to introduce you to more of my work and would be delighted if you were to follow my blog and travels!!
