Many parents may be misinformed about what the novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is about. If they just hear the storyline, they may think it is quite frightening and not a book they’d want their child to read in school.
To prevent this, it’s a good idea (especially if you are introducing it to younger students) to educate your parents about the novel beforehand and encourage them to read it, as well. Send a letter home explaining what the story is about and why you are teaching it.
I have a free download with some tips to follow before you teach it and a template for a letter home. You can customize it to suit your needs. I also included a movie permission slip in case you are taking your classes to the movie. (44 days!! Yes, I’m excited!)
