So who else is PUMPED for “The Hunger Games” premiere?? Are you planning to see a midnight showing? Or taking your students on a field trip? Don’t forget I have a free template for permission slips for both the field trip and for reading the novel {HERE}. I’m taking my son to the midnight show and we are sooo excited!
On a more serious note, there are so many people in our world today who are starving to death, just like the district citizens in Panem. They shouldn’t be. There is enough food to feed everyone. I don’t want to get preachy here, but we need to take a hard look at ourselves and if we aren’t helping our fellow man, how do we differ from President Snow and the other Capitol citizens? The sad fact is, we don’t. But you can make a difference with your students.
Start with downloading my FREE lesson on hunger in The Hunger Games: What They Ate. It opens up so many discussion points that you can address with your students. Have them get involved in local food drives. As a class, collect food and deliver to a food pantry or homeless shelter. Let your students SEE the people they help. They will become more compassionate and more compelled to make a difference on their own.
Thank you for taking the time to read this!
