At this time of the year, I would’ve hoped that my kids would have all mastered their digraphs, but I still have 3 who are telling me th says “ch” and don’t remember what ch is supposed to say! So, I pulled back out my digraph sort. It’s super easy, the students have 12 pictures to cut, sort and glue. Earlier in the year, I used it as a phonics center in my literacy center rotation, but now I’m doing it small group with my struggling students. What I love most about it, is there is pretty much no preparation needed, except making a copy for each student. Plus, each digraph has corresponding graphics to help students remember what each digraph sounds like. These visual cues are so helpful for my ESL babies!
