Would ANY Characters in Panem Celebrate Mother’s Day?

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, so if you are teaching/reading The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, or Mockingjay with your students, this is a great time to discuss parent/child relationships within the novels. Not many have a “normal” relationship with their mother. And sadly, many of our students don’t, either. Talking about how the characters might deal with their relationship can be a good way for students to open up without being personal.
