The Olympic Song
One of the great things about the Olympic Games is the inspirational songs that form part of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Let children listen to the previous Olympic songs such as “One world, one dream” from Beijing 2008.
You can either make your own Olympic song or vote for your favourite or use it during the celebration.
The Olympic Mascot
The Olympic Mascots help build excitement around an event and are representatives of the games. The first mascot in Olympic history made its appearance at the 1972Munich Olympic. Mascots materialize the Olympic spirit, communicate the concepts of each Olympic Games, promote the history and culture of the host city and create a festive atmosphere for the Games.
Invite children to make an Olympic Games Mascot. Put out assorted art materials such as:
Crayons, Styrofoam shapes, scraps of material, toilet paper tubes, tin foil, googly eyes, paint, etc. Give the mascot a name and list the qualities a mascot should have with your kids.
This is one of the games I made to celebrate the Olympic Games in my class
