October 5th is Do Something Nice Day, and it’s a great time to focus on character education and the importance of thinking of others! To help you celebrate, I created this Do Something Nice Day printable which you can download from the Seasonal Page on Teaching Resources.
Before you ask students to take it home, spend a few moments discussing what it means to do something nice for others. Brainstorm a list of ideas, including complimenting someone, sharing something, helping another student, cleaning up without being asked, and so on. At home, they might offer to set the table, read to a younger brother or sister, or help out in some other way. Ask your students to jot down what they do for others on this printable and return it the next day to share. I would not have them share with the class since these items may be personal, but you can have them talk about how they felt doing good deeds for the day. Then remind them that every day can be Do Something Nice Day!
