The bead slide is hands-down my favorite tool to use when teaching phoneme segmentation. You simply say a word and the students move a bead for each sound they hear in the word. The problem is I can’t always quickly think of 2-, 3- and 4- phoneme words. To solve this dilemma, I created a “cheat sheet” to use during small group instruction.
Come on over to the Make, Take & Teach blog for directions on how to make and use the Bead Slide as well as to download the cheat sheet.
