An Absent Work file folder is my favorite classroom management tip, because it is such a time saving stress-buster. Simply choose whatever cover you want, print & glue to the front of a file folder. Lay them on the desks of absent children.
Then when anything is passed out you or a designated helper make sure that one is put into the folder. I also ripped out workbook pages and included notes that went home that day.
During dismissal preparation, I paper clipped that day’s contents and put the dated sticky note on top.
The file remained on the child’s desk ’til they returned.
I especially appreciated this easy-to-implement idea at the end of the school day, when the office would call down that so & so was here to pick up work, or a family member stopped by, while I was rushing around trying to get students ready to go home. I’m sure you can relate.
