Do you read Pete the Cat stories? If so, I think you’ll enjoy this 24-page Story Elements and More packet. It’s purr-fect for Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes, and/or Pete The Cat’s Rockin’ School Shoes.
The packet includes pocket chart cards for the story elements: character, setting and event. There’s also 2 graphic organizer options, to help students write about and retell the beginning, middle and end of the stories.
Students can also practice colors and color word recognition with the trace & color worksheet.
There are 6 Venn diagrams, which are a wonderful way to introduce and practice comparison-contrast writing. Students compare 2 different color stories, 2 different cat characters, as well as comparing their shoes with a friend’s or even the cat’s.
There are 4 “I Spy a Word” game-worksheets, featuring 52 words (most on the Dolch word list). All of these words also appear in the I Love My White Shoes story.
You can also practice graphing, by figuring out what color shoes everyone is wearing.
