Are you looking for a few quick things you can plug in during Fire Safety Week?
Teaching your kiddos how to dial 911 in an emergency only takes a few minutes and could be life saving.
I designed several craftivities to reinforce this. The first one is a rip and tear 911. Ripping & tearing paper is great fine motor practice that helps strengthen finger muscles. Completed projects make an awesome fall bulletin board.
While students are working, have them sing the “Call 911” song. I’ve put it on a poster.
The other craft in this packet is a cell phone. I drew an Apple Smart phone because of the play on words that I typed at the top: “I’m smart. I know to dial 911 in an emergency.” The phone flips open to reveal the song. Older students can write a list of emergencies that would warrant dialing 911.
I’ve also included two worksheets to help reinforce 911. This one has students circle the nine number 9’s. I designed this because some of my Y5’s were confused by similar letters ( p, q ) and the number 6.
