Iditarod: Compare and Contrast Writing Activities

All Freebies· PK-2

There are so many good reasons to teach students about the Iditarod race. It is a grueling sled dog race that begins on the 1st Saturday in March. I was so lucky to have lived in Alaska to see the start of the race many times. I’ve put together a writing packet where students will choose two mushers to follow during the race, write information on their musher log, and then use a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast them. Then they will write informative texts and share them in a Class Writing Book.

Here is a sample of the log students will use.
If you would like to download the complete packet just click on either of the 2 images above.
Thanks for all you do to make a difference for your students.
