I used to spend so much time during the first month of the year trying to figure out all my groups and grouping arrangements for math and reading instruction. I literally sat with post-its trying to figure out when I would see which group, how many days a week I’d see the group, and then rearranging over and over again. That all changed once I made these reference charts. I just figure out how many groups I’m going to have based on the students needs, and of course that changes often enough and can make a person crazy in itself, and then I pull out my charts.
The larger the number, the needier the group and the more I see them. I pull it up, and it’s done. Easy peasy.
