Hi, Teaching Friends!
Have you used “Find a Friend Who …” games to help your students get to know each other? You know the kind I mean … find a friend who has visited another state, find a friend who has the same number of siblngs as you do, etc. This math activity works just the same, but as your students mingle, filling their papers, you’ll also be able to do some informal assessment of their ability to evaluate expressions, compare numbers, and use > and < signs. A math friend will decide, for example, whether 5+1 > 7-2, write “yes” or “no” in the box, and sign his initials. Then it’s on to find another friend who can solve another box on the page.
Happy Teaching!
