Tiling puzzles help students to work on problem solving skills because each tile can be used only once. So while that tile may work well in one place, it might not be the correct place. The same is true with problem solving. One strategy doesn’t always work the first time. Teach students to stick with it and keep working is a vital skill for math. In addition, tiling puzzles work on math facts and properties of mathematical operations. This Subtraction with Regrouping Tiling Puzzle helps students master the key principles to regrouping, as well as allowing them to work on subtraction and addition facts.
