There is simply no substitute for a good hands-on laboratory activity to teach and reinforce the concepts of science. When science students “see it for themselves” they are much more likely to retain a long-term understanding of the concept.
This lab, “The Effect of Concentration on the Rate of Diffusion” will explore the concentration gradient in a number of “cells” of varying concentrations. Students will use a variety of scientific method skills: Observation, hypothesizing, data collection, graphing, and forming conclusions.
