Fire safety is one on the most important life skills teachers can share with their students.
With that in mind, I designed this “note home” to families asking them to make a fire escape plan with their child, then have them draw a picture of their home escape route, complete with their meeting place.
If there’s not a home-school connection, with parental follow through, all the teaching at school about fire safety is not as effective as when we have teamwork.
To clarify things, I’ve included a sample drawing at the bottom, which they can use to help design their own.
I like to believe that this small effort on my part, to get families to make a personal fire escape plan, might someday save a life.
