A Fun Way to Dismiss Students and Avoid Chaos

All Freebies· PK-2

I am always looking for fun ways to dismiss my students or have them line up without all of them running for the door/line at once. We have all been there… You ask your students to line up or go to the carpet and all of a sudden your room is the scene of a stampede. Now, unless you are reenacting the running of the bulls no one likes this, not the students and definitely not the teacher.

Well I have a great solution for you that I have been using for years. I have my students line up based on interesting, individual statements. If I see that a student is not quite ready I will avoid making a statement that pertains to them. This gives them the extra time they need and doesn’t draw attention to whatever it is that they are/aren’t doing.
