Partner Cards Are A Great Way to Group Students
Putting students into groups or partners can be a tricky thing. We all know that who a student works with makes all the difference in how successful an activity will be.
Research has shown that if student groupings are random, students are more willing to work with their group and engage fully.
Partner Cards for the Win!
When it is time to partner students up (and I don’t want them to pick their partners — which you should let them do from time to time) I pull out the cards and watch the excitement happen!
What are Partner Cards?
If you are unfamiliar with partner cards they are just a set of cards your students use to find their partner for any activity you are doing. Each student gets a card and then they wander around the room looking for a classmate who has the matching card.
The matches can be the exact same card, the answer to a question, opposites, the ending to a phrase/sentence, etc. The possibilities are endless.
