Self-Monitoring

All Freebies

Does it look right?

Does it sound right?

Does it make sense?

Those questions are key to self-monitoring while reading.  I think it is essential to teach students to self-monitor and it’s something I’ve taught every group of struggling readers I’ve worked with.  No matter the grade, it’s a commonality with my struggling readers.

I created these posters to be an anchor chart for students throughout the year.  This strategy is the perfect one to introduce at the beginning of the year because then you can quickly refer back to it all year long.  Click on the images above to come check them out and see how I use them.
