This project is a great way to motivate your students to read more than one book by an author and to explore different genre. They do research via the Web or using other sources and make a list of five important facts about the author. Then they read two books by the author, write brief summaries and rate them. Next, they discuss the authors and books they read in small groups. Laminate the cards, put them in ABC order by authors’ last names, then put them in an index card box so they’re available at literacy centers or class libraries.
