Self-Monitoring

Does it look right?

Does it sound right?

Does it make sense?

Those questions are key to self-monitoring while reading.  I think it is essential to teach students to self-monitor and it’s something I’ve taught every group of struggling readers I’ve worked with.  No matter the grade, it’s the one thing in common with my struggling students.
